Sunday Sweets Dives Under The Sea

To quote a wise cartoon crab, "The human world, it's a mess. Life under the sea is better than anything they've got up there!"

I don't know if he's right, but this stunning hand-painted sea turtle almost has me convinced:

Look at the tiny trail of bubbles off the flipper. Amazing!

 My favorite sea creature is the seahorse, but let me tell you, there are lots and lots of ugly seahorse cakes out there. Just, so many. [shudder]

Thankfully I found this one to make up for the rest:

This is ALSO hand-painted, and I love how the trailing greenery looks like seaweed.

We've all seen a hundred wedding cakes with seashells for decorations, but I bet you've never seen one like THIS:

OoooOOOohh. They almost look like stained glass, or glazed porcelain, right? So, so pretty.

I love the geyser effect with the overlapping waves!

True story: I thought "narwhal" was pronounced "nar-whale" for most of my life. To this day I still feel betrayed by the proper pronunciation. It just sounds wrong, ha.

That icing effect really look like a shaft of light underwater! Brilliant!

I'm also a big fan of jellyfish:

 I love the soft pastels, and that little crab at the bottom made me laugh out loud with delight. So cute!

The longer I look at this, the more it boggles my mind: they've seamlessly joined 2D painting to 3D sculpting! Can you spot the transitions? The little girl is especially good, wow.

The rainbow coral, the floating tendrils, the way these jellyfish hang in the air the way that bricks don't? AHH-mazing.

I mean, sure, some will seem out of left field...
