Sunday Sweets: Wedding Cakes For Music Lovers

Remember when you were an angsty teen in some TERRIBLE mood, but then you'd put on your headphones, crank the volume, and get lost in your favorite songs?

I remember doing that with my Dad's old CD walkman, and I bet it's how a lot us learned to really love music: to put the whole world on pause, close our eyes, and get lost in the sounds.

So today, we're celebrating music:

(Sweet Love Cake Couture, Australia)

And we're celebrating music's favorite dance partner, love:

(Pirate Catering, California)

'Cuz these two go together like rock n' roll.

Or like these guitar and saxophone wedding cake toppers:

SO CUTE. I love the bow tie & veil. (And the sheep, hee!)

Are you a traditional, classical music type?

Or maybe you're into more modern, Alternative styles:

(Sweet Fix, Virginia)

Oooh, how about Big Band music?

I love a good Art Deco wedding theme.

This one feels very K-Pop, right?

It's just so sweet and bubbly!

And this one needs a good mix of Billy Joel and Elton John in the background:

(Art You Can Eat, Ontario)

I love how the piano keys seem to be floating - and the way they turn into music notes!

Here's another gorgeous 1940's style:

(Honey Glaze Cakes, Manila)

Listen close, and you can almost hear "At Last" by Etta James start to play. Mmm.

Or maybe you'd like something peppier to dance to:

(Nasa Mala Zavrzlama, Serbia)

With this one, the notes are already dancing!

There are lots of classic black and white music note cakes out there, but this one stands out with its feathery painted middle tier:

(Cakes By Lorna, Slovakia)

Also those shimmery flowers! Adds just the right note of softness.

And finally, a pop of sweet color:

(Cofetaria Dana, Romania)

Get it? Pop? Ahem.

Completely smitten with the subtle aging on the keys and sheet music, and that fantastic flower topper - it's just so different and beautiful!

I hope these made you smile, gang, and also inspired you to turn on some music today. In fact, I challenge you to dig through YouTube or iTunes and find that album 13-year-old you knew by heart. Then give it a listen. Sing along. Dance with your dog. Or maybe just put on your headphones, crank the volume, and let yourself get lost for a while. I bet we could all use that right now.

I thought these fit the love & music theme perfectly:

Sterling Silver Rose Treble Clef Necklace

Plus they're SO pretty! I think the classic rose is my favorite, but the sunflower is a close second.

And from my other blog, Epbot:

Taco WHO?

Minions, I like this taco cake, I do. I just can't shake the feeling that "something" is missing:

Lettuce just say it's my conundrum, nachos.

I love a good mashup, y'know? My favorite geek tees include the Ghostbusters chasing the Pac-Man ghosts and Pinky & the Brain as Doctor Horrible & Captain Hammer. (Aw yeah.)

HOWEVER.

What soulless monster thought it was OK to mashup Doctor Who with the the Swamps of Sadness from The NeverEnding Story?!

Christa+Whi.ow.Doctor+Who+call+box.jpg

No, Doctor, nooooo! FIGHT AGAINST THE SADNESS. Fight it!

::sniffle::

Not cool, man. NOT COOL.

Hang on, I can't leave you with such tragic imagery. Let me find something happier.

{digging through virtual stacks of wreckage}

AHA

Here, this'll help.

Oops, probably should have warned you to put your drink down. Now we have even more "spirts".

:D

Thanks to  Lisa W., Christa W., & Jen F. for putting a damper on things... in a good way.
